Geoffrey Colman
Geoffrey Colman read Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway College, London University in 1986, and has vast experience of teaching acting both in the UK and abroad. He is regularly invited to give international acting masterclasses and workshops - most recently in Ireland, Barcelona, Helsinki, and Prague, and is proud to be one of the Theatre Royal Haymarket's 'resident masters'.

His freelance directing career has combined work in opera and theatre in both the UK and abroad including: La Bohème, The Marriage of Figaro, the award winning national tour of John Roman Baker's Crying Celibate Tears, British composer Martin Butler's electro-acoustic world premiere of Purcell's King Arthur (Gardner Arts Centre, Brighton), and international musicologist David Osmond-Smith's world premiere reconstruction of Monteverdi's Orfeo (Gardner Arts Centre, Brighton).

In recent years Geoffrey's directing has focussed almost entirely on new writing for the theatre - in this diverse field he has worked with playwrights and actors from various performance contexts ranging from writers at the National Theatre of Finland and Institut del Teatre Barcelona, to actors with Miramax Films or the comedian Lenny Henry. Geoffrey is Head of Acting at Central School of Speech & Drama.
