Anita Dobson

As Angie Watts in Eastenders, Anita was one of the most popular characters on TV, winning the Pye Award for TV Personality of the Year, the Daily Mirror’s Actress of the Year and the TV Times Actress of the Year Award for that role.

In the theatre, Anita has appeared in the West End and all over the country. Theatre includes Budgie with Adam Faith (Cambridge Theatre); Chicago (Adelphi Theatre); Throughly Modern Millie (Shaftesbury Theatre); Three Sisters (Royal Court); Le Bourgeos GentilhommeFrozen (National Theatre); Kvetch (Garrick Theatre); My Lovely Shayna Maidel (Ambassadors); Charley's Aunt opposite Griff Rhys-Jones (Aldwych); The Vagina Monologues (Arts Theatre); The Island of Slaves (Lyric, Hammersmith); The Pyjama Game (Birmingham Rep, Victoria Palace and Toronto); Snow White (Croydon, Tunbridge Wells).

TV includes The Stretch with Leslie Grantham; Urban Gothic, Casualty, Hearts and Bones, Sunburn, Lily Savage, Dangerfield, Slap Bang, Doctors, Holby City, Last Detective, New Tricks.

Film includes: Dangerous Obsession, The Titchbourne Claimant, The Revengers Comedy, Beyond Bedlam, Seaview Knights, Need, The Euphoric Scale, Charlie.  

Anita earned a silver disc for her hit record Anyone Can Fall In Love. Albums On My Own and Talking of Love followed. She also wrote a best selling book My East End and was the subject of This is Your Life and a documentary Eastenders Revealed.
