Actor, Writer and Director Andy Nyman gave a masterclass on The Golden Rules of Acting and answered questions.

Following the masterclass, there was a book signing in the Stalls Bar.

Andy Nyman is an award-winning actor, director and writer who has earned acclaim from both critics and audiences for his work in theatre, film and television. He is currently playing Tevye in the West End transfer of Trevor Nunn’s Fiddler on the Roof, originally at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

Other recent theatre work includes: Martin McDonagh’s Hangmen, Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins (Menier Chocolate Factory), Abigails’s Party (Wyndham’s) and Ghost Stories, which Andy starred in, co-wrote & co-directed with Jeremy Dyson. Before transferring into the Duke of York’s Theatre, Ghost Stories originally played at the Lyric Hammersmith where it has just been revived.

Andy’s extensive television credits include: Hanna, Wanderlust, The Eichmann Show, Psychobitches, Campus, Crooked House and Dead Set as well as his highly acclaimed performance as Winston Churchill in Peaky Blinders.

Andy’s extensive film credits include: The Commuter, Death at a Funeral, Kick-Ass2, The Glassman, Black Death, The Brothers Bloom, Severance and Shut Up & Shoot Me, for which Andy won the Best Actor award at the prestigious Cherbourg Film Festival in 2006.
Later this year Andy will be seen playing opposite Renee Zellwegger in Rupert Goold’s Judy Garland film Judy.

Last year saw the release of the film version of Ghost Stories. Based on their play, the film was written and directed by Andy & Jeremy Dyson and also starred Andy alongside Martin Freeman, Alex Lawther & Paul Whitehouse.

Andy is also one of the co-writers and creators of the acclaimed TV shows Derren Brown - Mind Control and Trick of the Mind. He and the show won a Silver Rose at the 2003 Montreux Television Festival. He also co-wrote and co-directed six of Derren Brown’s stage shows winning the Best Entertainment Olivier Award for Derren Brown – Something Wicked This Way Comes & the New York Drama Desk Award for Best Unique Theatrical Event 2017 for Derren Brown – Secret. 


Andy’s book The Golden Rules of Acting has become a bestseller within the acting world.
