Singing coach Rachel Lynes’ Masterclass covered the following areas:
How you approach the difficult parts without hindering yourself with tension?
How do you cut a song when jumping into the big notes can seem jarring?
How do you make the panel feel like they are watching a performance not an audition.
Does overdone make it a no go?
Rachel helped Masterclass members understand how to choose the song that connects to their own story, casting type, and singing voice. The session looked at how to prepare mentally and train vocally for an audition so once you're in the room you can just give over to story and music.
Everyone participated in an extensive vocal warm-up/exploration of techniques, and were given a downloadable warm-up to take away and a list of recommended repertoire.
After graduating from Arts Ed and going straight into the West End, Rachel spent ten years as a leading lady, in plays and Musical Theatre before becoming a vocal coach. Now, alongside her own client list which includes some of the biggest names in the West End, she has founded The Sing Space, which brings industry standard singing opportunities to over 200 singers across London per week.
