This intimate Masterclass was with the award-winning designer Hildegard Bechtler and took place in the Stalls Bar of the Theatre Royal Haymarket. This exclusive opportunity included a presentation of Hildegard’s designs, a talk of her work as well as an opportunity to ask questions! 

About Hildegard


Hildegard Bechtler was born in Stuttgart, trained at Camberwell and Central St. Martin¹s Schools of Art and now lives and works in London.

Hildegard’s recent work includes Richard III and Uncle Vanya at the Almeida, Sunset at the Villa Thalia and Waste at the National Theatre, Oresteia at the Almeida and Trafalgar Studios (Olivier nomination – Best Set Design); Teddy Ferrara at the Donmar Warehouse; La finta giardiniera at Santa Fe Opera; La traviata at Glyndebourne; and Top Hat in the West End and on world tour (Olivier nomination – Best Set Design). Most recently, she has designed the set and costumes for the world premiere of Thomas Ades' The Exterminating Angel at Salzburg which will come to the ROH and The Met in 2017.
