Pitch Your Play Director & Casting Callout

This autumn Masterclass presents Pitch Your Play 2021, a series of staged readings at the Theatre Royal Haymarket - this is your chance to be involved!

We're delighted to announce the casting call for our first winning script in the season, Little India by Dilan Raithatha. The opportunity is to take part in a staged reading at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on Friday 15th October at 2.30pm in front of an invited audience of industry professionals, guests and peers.

We are casting for two roles for the reading.

This is a wonderful paid opportunity to showcase your ability on a West End stage and work with an exciting group of young, emerging theatre makers. (Please see below for a synopsis of the play.)

Rehearsals will take place in central London from Monday 11 October - Friday 15 October, with the staged reading on the Friday.


Casting - Roles

The team will be auditioning for 3 roles in total. Auditions will be taking place on Zoom on Friday 1 October. Timeslots and sides will be allocated in advance, and you will not need to learn them.

Rishi 'Rich' Raja

  • The older brother. Level-headed, respectful, stands his ground. An estate agent who has never left home and always followed his parents’ wishes.
  • Playing age: 28-32
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: South Asian

Mum

  • Old fashioned, strong, stubborn, controlling, hypocritical. Immigrated to Leicester in 1984 and worked her entire life along with her husband to ensure their family is safe. Deeply religious.
  • Playing age: 45-55
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: South Asian

*Members of the cast & the director will be paid £494/week.

About Little India

Sach returns home for the first time in years to attend his late father's funeral, where he will be delivering a eulogy. After some shocking home truths, will Sach be convinced to put his true thoughts and feelings aside?

Director Callout

The playwright Dilan Raithatha is looking for a Director for his staged reading. You will be working closely with Dilan and the Masterclass team to bring the piece to life on the Theatre Royal Haymarket stage. Dilan's preference would be for a South Asian director, so please do highlight if this is relevant in your application.
