Paid Internship - Sound, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (CLOSED)
May 24, 2023
Masterclass and Sonia Friedman Productions are seeking applications for the 'Laura Head' Sound Internship on the London production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This is an exciting development opportunity for someone who wishes to further their theatre career and gain the experience to become a Sound professional on a large-scale commercial production.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a uniquely complex and busy show, with over 40 cast members and a huge team off stage across multiple departments, all working together to realise the production. The Sound Intern will be involved with preparing, maintaining and operating the sound design, and will gain practical experience and knowledge in sound engineering for theatre. They will have the opportunity to meet with the show’s Sound Designer, Gareth Fry, to learn about the design process of the show and ask any design and career-related questions they may have. They will also be offered a one-year apprentice membership to The Association of Sound Designers at Future Professional level, starting in September 2023.
The internship will run from August to December 2023 across recast, rehearsal and performance.
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, this play written by Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany received its world premiere in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre in summer 2016. The critically acclaimed production is the most awarded West End play in the history of the Olivier Awards, winning a record-breaking nine awards, including Best New Play and Best Director in 2017.
