Theatre and Film fight director Keith Wallis ran a workshop in unarmed combat.
Stage combat is an essential part of any actor’s training, and in performance it can take many forms, ranging from simple slaps, punches and falls, to bar room brawls, sword duels and mass battles. This workshop explored the fundamental techniques for safe and effective stage fighting, with a strong focus on physical and spatial awareness onstage, how to keep yourself injury free during prolonged performance runs, as well as the way in which fighting techniques are constantly improving and developing to suit the needs of 21st century performance practice.
