Patrick’s plays for the National Theatre include: Dealer’s Choice, Closer, Howard Katz, The Musicians, The School Film (both for NT Connections), The Red Lion, versions of The Beaux Stratagem and Hedda Gabler.

He also adapted and directed Three Days in the Country and Exit The King. At the Donmar Warehouse After Miss Julie and Don Juan in Soho (and Wyndhams).

Patrick’s television credits include: co-writing Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge, Paul & Pauline Calf Video Diaries and The Curator.

Film credits include: Closer (dir. Mike Nichols), Notes on a Scandal (dir. Richard Eyre), Old Street and Love You More.

Radio credits include: writing Hoop Lane, co-writing Knowing Me, Knowing You and Bunk Bed (with Peter Curran).

As a director, as well as his own plays he has directed ‘1953’ at the Almeida, Blue Remembered Hills at the NT, The Old Neighborhood for the Royal Court at the Duke of York’s, The Caretaker at the Comedy, I Remember at the Royal Court, Travesties at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Apollo Theatre.

Direction for TV includes After Miss Julie and The Curator.

His plays have received Olivier, Evening Standard, Time Out, London and New York Critic’s Circle and Writer’s Guild Awards. His TV work has received awards from BAFTA, The Royal Television Society and British Comedy. His screenplays have been nominated for BAFTA, Golden Globe and Academy Awards. His Notes on a Scandal received the British Independent Film Award.
